📦 1. Data Storage

All your records, templates, and settings are stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. We do not run any servers, do not collect telemetry, and do not upload your records anywhere. Your data stays on your device unless you explicitly share a backup file yourself.

🔒 2. Permissions

• Internet: Used only for optional AI analysis (calls to the provider you configure with your own API key) and Google AdMob.
• Storage / Share: Used when you export a JSON or CSV backup or import a backup file.
• Phone dialer (tel:): Used only when you tap a crisis hotline in the safety sheet. The app does not place calls automatically; it hands off to your phone’s dialer and you decide whether to call.

🔑 3. Bring Your Own AI Key (BYOK)

Memora does not provide AI as a managed service. To enable AI-powered analysis and reports, you add your own API key for a provider you choose (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint).

• Your API key is stored in the device’s hardware-backed secure storage (Android Keystore). It is never uploaded to us.
• When you run an analysis, the app sends your prompt and the relevant records directly to the provider’s endpoint you configured, using your key. We do not proxy, log, or relay that traffic.
• The provider you chose will receive and process that content under their privacy policy and terms. Please review them before enabling AI features.
• AI features are entirely optional. All recording, editing, search, export, and import features work fully offline without any API key.

📈 4. Advertising

We use Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization). AdMob never receives the contents of your records.

📥 5. Data Export & Portability

You can export all your records as a JSON backup or as a CSV file at any time from Settings > Backup & Export. JSON backups can be imported back into Memora on this or another device, in either overwrite or merge mode. You are always in full control of where backup files go when you share them.

🗑 6. Data Deletion

You can delete individual records from the home list (tap & hold → Delete). You can delete your API keys from Settings > AI keys. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all locally stored data — records, templates, keys, and settings — from your device.

⚠ 7. Safety & Crisis Resources

Memora is a self-reflection tool. It is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, or substitute for professional care. AI analysis is informational only and must not be relied on for medical, psychological, legal, or financial decisions.

If the app detects language suggesting self-harm or crisis while you are using the AI analysis feature, it shows a list of local crisis hotlines so you can reach help quickly. Tapping a hotline hands off to your phone dialer. Memora does not transmit this detection or any part of your text to us or any third party — detection runs entirely on-device.

If you are in crisis, please contact a local emergency number or a trusted professional immediately.

👶 8. Age Requirement & Children’s Privacy

Memora is intended for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. All data is stored locally and is not accessible to us.

📝 9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use of Memora after changes means you accept the updated policy.
